I’m Lisa McKenna—a brand designer turned collage artist who’s been mixing strategy with storytelling (long before Canva made everyone think they were a designer). For over two decades, I’ve built identities that actually connect—working with everyone from authors and indie food brands to tech startups, MA Gov Maura Healey, and global heavyweights like The United Nations, UGG, Fleet Bank, and the City of Boston. By 21, I’d already left my mark at Bain & Co., CW56, and Estée Lauder.
In my 40s, I went back to school at Startup Institute Boston—a bold midlife pivot that landed me a feature on Justine Bateman’s Smarty Pants Women. Then in 2020, somewhere between a creative rut and a world on pause, I discovered digital collage—and let’s just say things escalated. My work has since been exhibited from Paris to Art Basel Miami to The Oculus in NYC, and featured in 100 Artists to Watch, curated by jurors from MoMA and Christie’s. So… yeah, the side project’s doing alright.
These days, I split my time between building brands and teaching rebellious digital collage techniques through Rebel Art Lab, my creative studio for artists ready to break the rules. I also write about art, archives, and the messy process of making things on my Substack.
Let’s talk about your creative needs—and what it could say if it finally said the right thing.
